Care tips

Light

If you want to see your Strelitzia grow, and eventually flower, it needs bright light and a little sun! An east or west-facing window will suit perfectly.

Watering

The amount of water needed will depend on where you place your plant. A good rule of thumb is to water once the soil has dried to 2cm on the surface.

Temperature

Average home temperatures are ideal. The strelitzia needs warmth in summer and cooler temperature in winter (between 8°C and 15°C).

Toxicity

Bird of Paradise is mildly toxic to pets such as cats and dogs. The toxic compounds tend to be concentrated in the roots and seeds rather than in the leaves and are not easily accessible.
