If you are not yet a plant owner and looking for an easy houseplant, the snake plant is a must have. This tropical looking plant is popular because of its adaptability. It is able to withstand both full sun and low light. In addition, because the Sansevieria is native to the arid deserts of West Africa, it requires very little water, especially in winter.

Care tips

Light

Sansevieria likes bright light. Note that it will grow very well in slightly shadier locations (albeit a little slower) as long as it does not remain in total darkness.

Watering

Water your Sansevieria moderately (once a week, when the soil is dry) in summer and once or twice a month in winter.

Temperature

Although the Sansevieria is very hardy, it likes heat. If the soil is dry, it will survive without problems up to 5°C. Good growing conditions will require temperatures between 15 and 27°C.

Toxicity

This plant is toxic to animals and children if ingested.
