Good to know

There are 120 different types of Dracaena, some of which produce a blood red resin. This is why it is also called the dragon tree or dragon blood tree. Dracaenas are mainly native to Africa, but can also be find in Asia and Central America. This variety, a bicoloured Dracaena Marginata comes from Madagascar, it has beautiful clear leaves with a thin red edge.

Care tips

Light

Marginata's prefers a bright exposure but also tolerates darker spaces. It will be perfectly positioned sitting on a windowsill facing north.

Watering

A dracaena does not need much water. Water it when the soil is dry on 2 to 3 cm of depth. More or less1 watering per week in summer & spring and 1 to 2 watering per month in winter & autumn.

Temperature

The ideal temperature for this plant is between 15 and 27°C.

Toxicity

The sap found in the leaves and stems of the Dracaena tree contains small amounts of toxic substances. Nothing too dangerous, but they can cause irritations when ingested.
